HISTORY

HMS LIVERPOOL (D92) was a Type 42 destroyer of the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom. The Type 42 class was a class of guided-missile destroyers designed to provide air defense capabilities to the British fleet. HMS LIVERPOOL was the ninth ship of the class and was in service from 1982 to 2012.

The ship was named after the city of Liverpool in England and was built by Cammell Laird Shipbuilders. During her service, HMS LIVERPOOL participated in various operations and exercises, including deployments to conflict zones and peacekeeping missions. As a Type 42 destroyer, HMS LIVERPOOL was equipped with a powerful air defense system, including the Sea Dart missile system, which enabled her to defend against aerial threats. The ship also had the capability to conduct anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare operations.

HMS LIVERPOOL served with distinction during her years of service, contributing to the defense and security of the United Kingdom and its allies. After her retirement, she was eventually decommissioned and later sold for scrap.
