HISTORY OF RANGER PAINTED

The J-Class racing yacht Ranger was built at Bath Iron Works in 1937 for Harold S. Vanderbilt, to be used to defend the America’s Cup that year. The Ranger succeeded in defending the Cup.

The Ranger project has been in development since its conception in September 1999 and its team of designers, naval architects, and industry specialists has designed a yacht that recreates the look of the existing J-class yachts Shamrock, Endeavour, and Velsheda. Ultimately, the Ranger will be used to cruise in company with the owner’s current yacht, Georgia, and to attend J Class and Classic Yacht Regattas around the World.
