HISTORY INFORMATION OF LE QUY DON

Le Quy Don (HQ-286) is a sailing training ship of the Vietnam People’s Navy. Named after Le Quy Don, a mandarin and poet during the Le Dynasty. The ship is on the payroll of the Training Ship Fleet, Vietnam Naval Academy to be used for training. The ship was ordered by Vietnam to be built in 2013. Construction started on July 2, 2014, designed by Choreń Design & Consulting company, Poland.

The sailing training ship Le Quy Don has an overall length of 67 m. Width 10 m. The ship has 3 large masts with a height of up to 40 m, the sail area is 1,400 m2. Weapons equipped on the Le Quy Don ship include 4 WKM-Bm heavy machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber. The ship has communication equipment, programmed classrooms, and other necessary modern equipment.

The crew consists of 30 people and 80 students. Enough provisions for a 45-day cruise at sea. There are 4 small rescue boats equipped on the mother ship.
