KRUZENSHTERN’S HISTORY

The Kruzenshtern is a renowned Russian four-masted barque.

Origins: Originally named the Padua, the ship was built in 1926 in Bremerhaven, Germany, and was initially used for cargo transportation.
Post-World War II: After World War II, the ship was handed over to the Soviet Union as war reparation. It was renamed in honor of the Russian explorer Adam Johann von Krusenstern.
Training Ship: In the 1960s, the Kruzenshtern underwent extensive modifications and became a training vessel for cadets of the Soviet and later Russian navies.
Voyages: The ship embarked on numerous training expeditions, circumnavigating the globe multiple times. It participated in international tall ships’ races and visited various ports worldwide, promoting maritime education and cultural exchange.

The Kruzenshtern continues its service as a sail training ship for the Russian fleet. It is renowned for its majestic appearance and contributes to maritime education and the preservation of sailing traditions.
