KORIETZ (Кореец)

The Koriyets (Кореец) was a Russian warship.

Construction: The Koriyets was a protected cruiser built in the late 19th century for the Imperial Russian Navy. It was constructed at the Baltic Shipyard in Saint Petersburg and was launched in 1885.
Service: The ship served in various capacities within the Russian Navy during its active years. It participated in naval operations and patrols in the Pacific Ocean and the Far East.
Fate: After sustaining significant damage in the battle, the Koriyets was deliberately sunk by its crew to avoid capture by the Japanese. The ship sank in the harbor, becoming a symbol of Russian bravery in the face of overwhelming enemy forces.
