Construction: Harvey was built in 1847 in New York. Harvey was originally built as a pilot boat, serving the port of New York City. These pilot boats play an important role in guiding ships through challenging and often dangerous harbor entrances.

Service: Harvey served as a pilot boat for several years, assisting incoming ships by transporting pilots to and from vessels needing guidance in navigating the harbor’s waters.

Conversion to racing boat: In the late 19th century, Harvey underwent many modifications and was converted into a racing boat. It has participated in prestigious yacht races including the annual regattas held along the East Coast of the United States.

Notable Accomplishments: Harvey was recognized for his speed and success in racing competitions. It became famous for its sailing capabilities during this period.
