FRANCE II’S HISTORY

France II was a famous French ocean liner known for its luxurious accommodations and transatlantic voyages in the early 20th century.

• Construction: Built by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, the France II was launched in 1912. However, due to the outbreak of World War I, its completion was delayed. delayed and not made until 1921 when it made its first voyage.
• Transatlantic service: France II is primarily known for its service on the transatlantic route between France and New York. It is part of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (French Line) fleet and is revered for its luxury, speed and luxurious amenities.
  The ship is famous for its luxurious interior, providing lavish accommodations for passengers. It offers first-class amenities, including large dining rooms, spacious cabins and various entertainment facilities.
• Operations: France II operated for about two decades, facing a decline in passenger numbers due to the Great Recession and the growing popularity of air travel. Finally, in 1934, the ship was withdrawn from service and scrapped in Japan in 1935.
