HISTORY

This is the largest container ship in the world, and also the largest ship currently operating at sea. (Some larger tankers such as Knock Nevis have now temporarily ceased operations and converted to floating storage). Since leaving the factory, Emma Maersk has been exploited on the Europe – Far East route via the Suez Canal. The name of this ship was given on August 12, 2006 to commemorate the late wife Emma Maersk (who passed away in December 2005) of Mærsk group chairman Mc-Kinney Møller. Their youngest daughter (then Vice President of the group) and her husband, Peder Uggla, named the ship.
