CHRISTIAN RADICH PAINTED’S HISTORY

Christian Radich is a fully equipped Norwegian ship, famous for its participation in international regattas and as a training vessel. Named after Norwegian shipowner Christian Radich, she was built in 1937 at Framnæs Mekaniske Værksted in Sandejord, Norway. The ship was originally built for a seafaring school based in Oslo.

Christian Radich was designed as a sailing training ship primarily for the Norwegian merchant navy.
During World War II, the ship was captured by the Germans and used as an accommodation ship in the Baltic Sea. After the war, she was returned to Norway and continued her role as a training ship.

The ship’s legacy extends beyond its maritime duties. It gained widespread recognition through its appearances in films, especially in the 1958 film “Windjammer,” which introduced its beauty and capabilities to audiences worldwide.
