Aldabi’s History
On 09-07-1938 as ALDABI of van Nievelt Goudriaan & Co’s Stoomvaart Mij. Launched as ALDABI for Nigoco on November 23, 1940. (The ship under construction was only reported as completed in the Land Registry on 14 November 1946.) Requisitioned by the Germans on 7 August 1941, completed and put into service as WOLTA on February 2, 1942.
On 10 October 1944, the ship served during the war as a target and accommodation ship for U.boats 17., 23 and 27. Returned to the Netherlands at Wilhelmshaven on 29 June in 1945, was virtually undamaged and was quickly put into use.
ALBA, located at Halkis since 17 September 1971, was sold for scrap in the spring of 1972 to Methane Agir Celik Izabe Sanatii in Istanbul (Türkiye). She arrived on her final voyage to Istanbul on 9 May 1972, where she was scrapped.
