Goto Predestinatsia (Гото Предестинация) – The First Russian Ship of the Line
General Information:
Name Meaning: “Goto Predestinatsia” translates to “God’s Predestination” in Russian.
Type: 58-gun ship of the line.
Launched: April 27, 1700.
Built at: Voronezh, Russia.
Significance:
The first Russian ship of the line, fully designed and constructed by Russian specialists.
Part of Peter the Great’s effort to establish a powerful navy.
Service History:
Fleet: Served in the Azov Fleet.
Role: Played a key role in Russia’s early naval operations in the Sea of Azov.
End of Service:
After Russia’s unsuccessful Prut Campaign (1711), the Treaty of the Pruth forced Russia to return the city of Azov to the Ottoman Empire.
Goto Predestinatsia was sold to the Ottoman Empire as part of the agreement.
