The “Oasis of the Seas” is a cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International, one of the largest cruise lines in the world.
Construction: The Oasis of the Seas was ordered in February 2006 and constructed at the STX Europe shipyard in Turku, Finland. It was built as part of the Oasis-class, which includes some of the largest cruise ships in the world. The ship had its maiden voyage on December 5, 2009. It departed from Port Everglades, Florida, and embarked on its first Caribbean cruise.
Features and Innovations: Oasis of the Seas introduced several groundbreaking features to the cruise industry, including a Central Park area with real trees and plants, an AquaTheater for live performances and water shows, and various neighborhoods with restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. It also has numerous pools, slides, and a zip line.
Record-breaking Size: At the time of its launch, Oasis of the Seas was the largest cruise ship in the world. It has a length of over 1,180 feet (360 meters), a maximum passenger capacity of around 6,000, and a crew capacity of over 2,000.
