Design and Construction
Year Built: 1952-1953
Builder: Cantieri Timossi, a boatyard located on Lake Como, Italy.
Design: The hydroplane features a three-point design, which allows it to “fly” over the water, reducing drag and increasing speed.
Engine and Performance
Engine: Ferrari Lampredi V12 engine, originally designed for Formula 1 cars.
Power: The engine was modified with two superchargers and four twin-choke carburetors, producing over 600 horsepower.
Speed Record: On October 15, 1953, Arno XI set a world speed record of 150.19 mph (241.7 km/h) on Lake Iseo, Italy. This record still stands today for an 800 kg class boat.
