The MISS AMERICA IX is a speed boat built and crafted by Gar Wood, a renowned boat racer and boat manufacturer during the 1920s and 1930s. This vessel was constructed in 1928 and equipped with a highly powerful engine delivering exceptional performance, enabling the boat to achieve high speeds.

The MISS AMERICA IX competed in prestigious boat races, particularly in the Harmsworth Cup, an internationally acclaimed event for high-speed water racing boats. The vessel emerged victorious in the Harmsworth Cup races in 1929 and 1930, consecutively, establishing itself as a world-famous racing boat.

After a period of significant success, MISS AMERICA IX was retired as the era of high-speed water racing came to a close. Nowadays, many famous racing boats like MISS AMERICA IX have been preserved and are exhibited in maritime sports museums and historical exhibitions.
