HISTORY OF HMHS BRITANNIC
HMHS Britannic is the third and largest of the three Olympic-class ships of the White Star Line, along with the two ships that preceded it: RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic. Britannic was built to serve the needs of transporting passengers across the Atlantic.
However, launched approximately at the outbreak of World War I, Britannic was quickly put into military use, as a medical ship. On November 21, 1916, due to an explosion under the ship’s bow, Britannic sank off the Greek island of Kea, along with 30 people.
