HMS DIANA’S HISTORY

The HMS Diana was a British Royal Navy frigate that saw service during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

• Construction: The HMS Diana was launched in 1794 during the Napoleonic Wars. It was a fifth-rate frigate armed with numerous cannons.
• Service: Diana played an active role in various naval engagements against the French and their allies. It participated in blockades, patrols, and convoy duties across the Atlantic and European waters.
  Battle of Cape Finisterre: One of its notable engagements was during the Battle of Cape Finisterre in 1805, where a British fleet intercepted a French squadron, resulting in a significant naval victory for the Royal Navy.
  After its active service, the HMS Diana continued in various roles, including patrol and escort duties. It was eventually decommissioned and broken up in 1816.
